Iconic Collection-Early Films

don't buy this
the discs are scratched and damaged and don't play well. There is definitely something wrong with quality control at emphasisentertainment. I contacted the manufacturer through their website and they acknowledged the fault and they were so kind to send replacement discs. 2 replacement discs were dvd-r but it is better than nothing...

Digital Restoration my foot
Did I get the wrong DVD-set? It is hard for me to understand the statements of the three reviewers below who each gave 5 stars. In fact I experienced the same as the two reviewers with the 1 and 3 star judgement. I got three scratched DVDs that didn't work. As a replacement I received ... three DVD-r. O.k., this time they worked. There is a remark in the booklet that promises digital restorations of the films and it is repeated in the opening and closing credits of each movie. When I watched "The Eyes of the Mummy Ma" I realized that this is the same print as the Alpha-DVD with the titles replaced by ugly white-on-black ones that don't really fit in. Just compare the first scene that takes place in the desert. And everybody should know by now that you can't sink much lower than Alpha. The most interesting of the films is "Sappho" which is announced as being tinted. Well, it isn't. I own the Grapevine-DVD which in fact contains the tinted version with english titles. O.k., it looks...

disappointment...
I was very excited to see that such a DVD collection of the early Pola Negri's movies had been released. I ordered it all the way from America to Poland as I'm a huge fan of Pola and silent movies in general. Unfortunately all discs are damaged and scratched which must have happened during production. The first disc is so damaged that I lost 8 minutes of the movie, it is impossible to make it work, it stops and I had to fast-foward a lot. I don't recommend it to anyone...

A Light In The Forest

NOT related to the Conrad Richter novel
I teach eighth grade English. The Conrad Richter novel, The Light in the Forest, is a part of our eighth grade curriculum. I purchased this video on the assumption that it was an adaptation of that novel which is about a Caucasian boy who has been raised by Native Americans, and the story of his struggle to fit into the culture of his natural parents. Unfortunately, I did not look beyond the cover which pictures a boy who looks like he is dressed in the manner of a 1700's backwoodsman.

It would be helpful, since the title is identical to the Conrad Richter classic, if Amazon would make some prominent notation that this video is not in any way related to that novel.

A Really Fun Ensemble Cast
This is a really cute movie. One I enjoyed watching with my daughter. I am a Lindsay Wagner fan from way back and I also love Edward Albert. This would be the second time Mr. Albert and Christopher Khayman Lee have worked togther, well, sort of. Chris was Andros the Red Ranger on Power Rangers in Space and Mr. Albert portrayed Mr. Collins, father to Wes, the Red Time Force Ranger.
This movie was better than I had expected it to be. Sometimes when you put many actors and actresses together who haven't done anything in a while you usually get junk. Watching Ms. Wagner, always a pleasure, play the understanding and loving teacher was heart warming. Then seeing Chris play the spirit of the forest, an elf (many fans that I know have always wanted to see him with pointy ears), was both mildly comical, after watching him beat the baddies using martial arts in Power Rangers in Space and then to have him taking flight in this movie almost brought me to tears at the sheer campyness of the...

A Movie to Treasure
I watched this movie and I wasn't sure what to expect. I kind of figured it might be a little campy - I wasn't sure if I'd like it. I watched it and I had a huge grin on my face for three days afterwards.

There is something so heartwarming about this movie and so - apart - from what the world is today. Yes, there is some campiness in it - but it is really a joyous movie, with dashing heroes, magic, bad guys - and NO rated-R blood and gore! HOW often do you see something like that?

The cast's performance - especially Christopher Khayman Lee - in this movie makes me smile out loud and maybe not find this world such a depressing, aggravating, selfish and angry place after all.

Bah Humbug go bye-bye, baby!

Suave Leading Man of the 1930's and 1940's
"The Robert Montgomery Collection" pays tribute to a popular leading man of the 1930's and 1940's. Though his light these days doesn't shine as brightly as that of his M-G-M contemporaries Clark Gable and Spencer Tracy, Montgomery projected a debonair charm and seemed most at home in light comedies, though he turned in a chilling performance as a suspected murderer in 1939's "Night Must Fall."

His leading ladies included Greta Garbo, Norma Shearer, Rosalind Russell, Ingrid Bergman, Susan Hayward, and Carole Lombard.

This four-disc collection contains eight features including "Shipmates" (as naval hero John Paul Jones), "Faithless" (co-starring Tallulah Bankhead), "Lovers Courageous" (as English family black sheep and world traveler), and "Made on Broadway" (as a slick, fast-talking press agent).

Also included are "The Man in Possession," "But the Flesh Is Weak," "Live, Love and Learn," and "The Earl of Chicago." There are no bonus extras.

Montgomery One of a Kind
This collection has some hard-to-find gems - Live, Love and Learn, The Man in Possesion - making it worthy of purchase, but it is enjoyable throughout because of the personality of the leading actor... a great free-spirit! Montgomery has attitude with heart, and a genuine flair for humor. These movies slipped in under the "code" and under the radar of contemporary viewers.

VOADOR- Capoeira Movement and Sound

great
This DVD is amazing. Really different than other videos. Wish inbound be like the people in this DVD. Great great muito great.

Looking for capoeira?..its not here!
Though there are several mestres and professors involved in the creation of this video, there is no capoeira being played. If you are a students of capoeira and are looking for new material to study...this is not it. If you do not know what capoeira is...this is not it. If you want to see how Sesame Street and a someone on acid would interpret capoeira...this IS it!

The best capoeira video I have seen to date
This video is well produced and the music is nice. There is not your typical capoeira video. There are great acrobatics and great games. However, what really separated this video from many I have seen was the way the video is shot and the music that's played. Some of the stills are amazing, almost life like. The capoeira is hot. This video is a great display of capoeira played at a very high level. It is great from an inspiration perspective (i.e. I wish I could do even half of what I saw on this video), this is not an instructional video by any stretch. The men and women who are in this video are all high level caporistas in their own right. If you want to see some great acrobatics, outstanding capoeira games, and listen to some nice music, buy this DVD it's worth every penny.

Learn to Make Earrings with Metal Clay and PMC

good video/presentation for 1 week rental
This is a good video presentation if you order it for just a week viewing. If you buy it outright you will not feel the price is justified. It is good for pointers and some basic construction instructions. I felt the power point was fine, and didnt feel it was problematic that there was a shortage of video.

I'm glad I rented it
This video is not exactly video per se. It's a lot of narration with still photos. It isn't useless, as it does give great techniques for the beginner to novice levels. If you are already more advanced in your Art Clay, you probably won't hear much you haven't heard a hudred times before. I'm more of a novice that is self taught so I did get a few useful tips and tricks. The purchase price however, is outrageous, especially when you consider it isn't actually video. It's useful, but rather limited. It would have been 5 stars if it weren't stills with narration and actually showed doing the techniques being explained.

Mannix: Sixth Season

A Singular Character
For those "Mannix" fans already out there, all you need to know about the season 6 release is that the audio, video, menus and packaging are all consistent with the previous releases -- all high quality. Keep on enjoying the ride.

For those who are un-initiated to "Mannix," remember it only from its first run, or were exposed to it only in butchered re-runs, here is a brief overview.

"Mannix" is one of a class of shows produced by Desulu in the late 60's -- in fact, it was the last show produced by that studio. Its closest peers are "Star Trek" and "Mission Impossible," the latter of which had the same executive producer. As a result, you actually see many of the same actors, settings and props in all three shows -- and in the closing credits, some of the same names. But, while "Star Trek" and "Mission Impossible" went on to spawn movies and re-makes, "Mannix" stands on its original episodes.

This makes perfect sense to "Mannix" fans, because the...

6 Down, 2 To Go!
So glad to see the sixth season of Mannix coming out in January 2012. If CBS/Paramount are consistent, the high production quality of this release should mirror that of the other five. With any luck, we'll see seasons 7 & 8 released in the next year -- 40 of those 48 episodes were never syndicated in the U.S., so they will be "new" more than 35 years later!

High Sticking & Reading Water

High sticking the Madison
Kelly Galloup is in his element in this DVD, he brings you in as a fishing partner not as "this is how it;s done" you are with him all the way. When he is hooked by the big brown you feel it too. Kelly is one great guy you will watch this and the other DVD's he has out over and over. I am glad each year to be able to stop by the Slide Inn and visit with him and I come away each time a little richer with what I have learned, and a little poorer with more tackle, but it's worth it. Stop by and you'll agree.

fishing dvd
Very informative hope to try some of his stuff,if you been nymphing not much of a change, just a different take on certain styles.
